FKM (fluoro rubber, viton, FPM, fluorine, tecnoflon)

This rubber is resistant to a wide range of chemicals, aging, ozone and oxygen and has an extremely large temperature span. It is highly resistant to mineral oils and grease. The content of fluorine dictates its degree of resistance to temperature and chemicals, thus it can be controlled. It is poorly permeable to gases and therefore useful when we wish to create a vacuum.

Usage:

food and pharmaceutical industry, gaskets for engines.

Advantages:

  • excellent resistance to chemicals, high temperatures, all weather conditions, ozone, UV radiation,
  • good mechanical properties and excellent compressibility.

Disadvantages:

  • poor resistance to low temperatures, hot water and steam, polar solvents, brake fluids, hydrofluoric and chlorosulfonic acid,
  • no rebound resilience.

Temperature resistance: from – 20 °C to 200 °C.

Hardness: 40 to 90 Shore A.
